My login name is peglegsjim. I don’t imagine that is perfectly understandable to non-amputees.
I am a bilateral below knee amputee with chronic stump pain. I think I could live with the bilateral amputation BUT to ask me to live with chronic stump pain is a bit much.
I had the operation in May 2002. The reason for the operation was that I developed gangrene on both feet as a result of a botched up angiogram. This was told to me by two different physicians, Shit happens as they say.
If anyone has any solution about the chronic pain I sure would welcome their comments.
OK enough of that for now. I am also a Chartered Accountant who did not protect himself sufficiently with disability insurance. Some but not enough.
Because of my pain I can no longer work out of my home.
I live in Rutherglen, Ontario on Lake Talon. This is a very small village just outside of North Bay. I have a beautiful home with a lousy mortgage.
I am 52 years old. I am married with three great kids. My two daughters have completed university and one is working as a nurse and one as a teacher. My son is still in medschool. Training to be an orthopedic surgeon. He is 28 years old and is soon to be starting residency. He thinks he will like the surgery part but not the hours required.
I am hoping to make a little bit of money selling amputee socks and other items to all amputees.
That’s my story to start – maybe I’ll continue because I have had a full lifetime in a short period.
